Immigrants often make the best U.S. citizens

The path to American citizenship can be a difficult road for many people who have made the Chicago area their new home. Sometimes, it may be difficult even to enter the United States at all, much less be allowed to establish permanent residency and citizenship in this country.

However, according to the views of some, recent immigrants to the United States actually make the best citizens, contributing to some of the most important values that make up the American way of life. This holds true whether an immigrant is seeking newer and better opportunities in already successful career or if he or she is simply trying to start a new life in order to make ends meet.

For example, the act of immigrating already shows that a person has the courage and wherewithal to take a big risk in life. These are the same sort of characteristics inherent in a successful businessperson. Statistically, immigrants are more likely than others to start a business. Moreover, a little under half of the S & P 500 businesses were started either by immigrants or by first generation Americans.

Immigrants are far away from their families and inherently crave being part of a community. Immigrants therefore are more likely to create close-knit neighborhoods and other social networks that can really build society and help democracy flourish.

Nevertheless, it still takes a lot of time and effort to become a citizen of the United States. It also can be complicated and confusing. In this respect, getting the right information about immigration law can provide valuable assistance to a person who has a strong desire to use their skills and talents to benefit the United States.
